Memento

Music
The music was slow, and was played in minor chords. The piece was non-digetic, and used to make the audience feels sad.

Cinematography
Extreme close up of the photo is the characters hand at the start of the movie, this is so that we can see that it is a picture of a dead body. The shots are all played in reverse, causing the viewer to feel confused. There is also extreme close ups of the small objects on the floor, i.e the glasses and the bullet. The director only uses close up shots so that we as the audience are kept in the dark as to where the characters are. Also there is a low angle shot looking at the guy with the gun, to symbolise that he is a higher status and has more power and authority.
Mises en scene;
-Bullet
-Glasses
-Body
-The killer is wearing a suit
-Tattoo on killers hand
-Window is sheeted over indicating that the building is abandoned

Editing
The pace of the editing is fast when were there are cuts between the close ups of the smaller objects on the ground. There are no transitions just plain cuts from shot to shot. At the start the black background slowly fades into a close up of him holding the photo.

Sound
Slow music being played throughout the opening sequence, indicating that something unpleasant has happened. There is the sound of the photo bending as he shakes the photo. The camera makes a noise at is reverses the print out and then it flashes. We can hear the sound of the bullet rattling along the ground, the gun being fired and then the guy shouting. All of these sound are Digetic as they are sounds coming from inside the world of the movie. However these sounds are hyperbolic, which means that the sounds have all been exaggerated.

Titles
Blue font over a black background, they fade in and out of the centre of the screen, they do this in time with the music. The font that has be chosen is called "Serif" this type of font has pointy edges with symbolises danger, and also to reflect that the film is serious as it is a thriller.
